COUNTY GET THEIR FIRST LEAGUE WIN OF THE SEASON

Our first game at home this season and County had their first week of the season where availability wasn't an issue. A couple of injuries and the odd player were unavailable but a strong 14 was available. After last weeks cup win, ensuring we brought the same desire, attitude and work rate was vital to get our first league win.

County started brightly and were soon on the front foot.

Within 2 minutes we closed Old Woods down well and forced a mistake across their back line. Steve Fahey pounced. 1 on1 he shot was well saved. Good chance and should have scored.

The next 15 minutes saw County dominate procession but we were sloppy with our final ball / pass, so created little. The Old Woods centre-half was single handedly keeping Old Woods in the game.

Luke Kelly should have scored from a corner. A free header blazed over.

Then on 23 minutes we has the break through. A mistake at the back gave Steve Fahey the ball. He rounded the keeper and slotted home. 1-0

Old Woods weren't offering much and we still had total dominance.

Then on 43 minutes, we nearly threw this away. We were sloppy and slow in marking from an Old Woods throw and allowed their forward through on gaol but Alex Molloy saved us with a decent save.

HALF-TIME 1-0

We had dominated the half. Our sloppiness and they're centre half being the difference from a hammering. Keeping the same 11, we just needing to be more sharper and clinical was the ask.

Again our first 15 minutes saw us dominate but with little threat.

Then on 60 minutes a Cam Wallis, finely floated free kick, created panic in Old Woods defensive line. After a scramble the ball fell to the big feet of Luke Kelly who toe-poked the ball home. 2-0

Subs - Anderson Dias on for Ruben Kwami and Scott Neville on for Erhan Altunc

70 minutes. A Steve Fahey shot was well saved.

Sub - Julian Boadu on for Matt Wright

75 minutes gone and a 25 yarder from Julian Boadu went well over.

Old Woods bare 11 began to tire.

76 minutes and a fine Bradley Doherty run saw his shot saved.

Steve Fahey then extended our lead further with a fine finish. 3-0

Old Woods then had a very rare shot on goal but Alex Molly pulled off a beautiful one handed save to keep the clean sheet in tact.

Then on 83 minutes the move and goal of the match. Saw Julian Boadu and Bradley Doherty combine superbly down our right. Bradley Doherty then, from the by-line, laid on a plate our 4th and Anderson Dias got his SCFC tally off the mark. 4-0

On 85 minutes we had a disappointing end when we switched off and allowed Old Woods to score at the back post. 4-1

FULL-TIME 4-1

A fine performance and win, giving us our first league win of the season. Hard work, desire and commitment have been fundamental to our last 2 games and this must continue on Saturday.
